I am single and considering retiring in 5 years to South America and Cartagena sounds like a good place.

Any information on costs (per month); laws and requirements for retiring, citizenship, etc, will be greatly appreciated.

Also, how would a single, American woman be treated? Any particular problems?

The major problem(and I bet it is a major one)would be many suitors wondering why such a lady like you is single in the first and whether to you, a pair would be feasible.

How about finding a Colombian friend, an expat or someone like Geri to help you around. Then, stop wondering if you will face any challenges; just be ready to face them.
