We are planning to visit a trip to Medellin during 2007 and would like to know what we should expect to pay for a 2 or 3 bedroom apartment on a weekly basis

To Mike from UK, depending on how many of you that there are and exactly how long your stay, I can give a great rate on an elegant penthouse that I share with Vacationers in Medellin.I do not have a website as of yet, but I can forward you pics. the pics are not that good and I will be taking detailed pics on or about the 15th of March. Normally, my rate is 50 U.S. per person per night, if it is over two weeks, it discounts to 45. If there are three of you for more than two weeks, it will discount to 40 per person per night. everything is included.

I am a mature, divorced, well-educated man who is seriously considering retirement in Medellin. I
have been to Colombia many times but never
Medellin. I have a guaranteed income of $1500 per
month plus savings and need to know if I can live
reasonably with this. In other words I need to
know the current costs of living. I currently live
in Florida and am employed in Social Work. It is
now quite expensive here. I understand a lot of
Spanish but it's rusty now. If someone could
counsel me I would appreciate it. Thank you!

Hi Brad, Typically your rent will around $500 US in Poblado for a 2 bedroom apartment, all bills including Cable TV and Internet will come to $150 per month and groceries is about the same although that's very relative.
Hope that helps.

I am curious whether or not there is satellite TV in Medellin, it is really great for sports such as watching the Red Sox baseball team where ever they are playing in the U.S. and for the other quality programming as well. If it exists, how much does it cost? Andrew, thanks for the info on the costs of living, I appreciate it. I understand that Poblado area is the highest quality of living and it occurs to me that one does not necessarily need that and that the level or two below would be satisfactory. I would not want to live in a bad area however. Thanks.

Cable TV comes part of the overall package, including free local telephone call, telephone line rental and Broadband internet for about 110, 000 pesos per month (approx $55 USD).
