'cali' Cali

I will be traveling to cali in december and I have heard of the places to visit. Some people have said to stay away of certain places. Does any body know where those places are or what they are called. It would be nice to know their names so they can be avoided all together.

Amanada... "Cali" is a great city in Colombia... It is no where near California... and the State of California website had no information on it either.

Ahaha information sharing "FAILED"! By the way since you guys have pointed out that Cali that Joseph refers to is on Colombia and not California. Can you help out by providing some Expat's blog to the forum so we can know what is the actual experience or life like in Cali? You see there are many results to search engine but it is better to read a personal blog of expats and people who experienced living in it first hand rather than those marketing stuff.

I've lived in Cali for almost five years now and have learned a few things that I'd be glad to share as needed. In general, the people are quite friendly though very few have any command of English. Of course, learning the language is a first step.

There's an area just east of the main plaza area referred to la olla that taxi drivers here avoid like the plague or lock their doors when passing through. some of the hillside communities are not friendly, but normally you won't have any reason to be there.
